ABOOT!

I’m a native Northumbrian ‘living in exile’, fortunately the place of exile is very pleasant; Cape Breton Island off the Canadian eastern seaboard.

Growing up in a small ex-mining community on the outskirts of an ex-steel town, my career horizons were not vista-like, like! I attended a state school that seemed to draw inspiration from wartime penal colonies, I can’t be sure it was any kind of inspiration to me however! Both were subsequently torn down and the earth salted! One of the buildings however, should have been saved!

With limited options, I joined the army which, also marked the start of my ‘messing around in the clarts career’.

Afterwards, thinking a little brain enhancement might help. I ended up focusing on higher education, more specifically practical conservation management, which involved a lot of tree planting and yes more getting hackie!

After years of struggling, I pivoted to a shiny new career in tech, enrolling in a computing master’s program. Leading to a variety of experiences including a couple business ventures and twenty years of retina destroying programming and designing. Then came THE LOCKDOWNS, and everything went sideways, so I returned to my roots; getting ‘hackie in the clarts’! Therefore, I decided to document some of those so hackie moments, sorry!

Some of the work, mainly the early video work on the island (during THE LOCKDOWN) is a little slip-shod. I don’t care that much as me mother liked it at the time, she was also locked down; a bit more than me however!

Oh and talk about Northumbrian history which, in my humble opinion, is a mostly untold and glorious story.

I recently came back to social media after an enforced hiatus. I can be reached at the following for whatever reason takes ye fancy! x
